RESTORATION WORKSHOPS

In the "Laboratorio di Vainella", just as in the ancient Botteghe, theory and practice are never parted. The didactic courses, which are the core of the initiative, go hand in hand with many activities that offer the necessary scientific supports and the opportunity to measure up with the application of what is being taught. The research on the techniques, the pictorial materials and their binders, which has produced thousands of data, meets the actual experience arising from the technical episodes on murals object of study and restoration. Errori di valutazione, imprudenze e imprevisti di ogni genere, complicano la vita di tutti i restauratori. Evaluation mistakes, imprudence and unforeseen events complicate the everyday life of the restorer. It's important not to forget them because they represent a precious knowledge to reach better performance in the future.

It’s about knowing when or not to apply the drastic measure of detaching the mural painting, as the last of hopes.

We know the enemies of yesterday will be the enemies of tomorrow, so we wish for the future a constant surveillance and a possible study and application of a method meant to defend this marvelous paintings.
